I made a new friend today. She’s a beautiful brown, black and tan butterfly. Her wings are real pretty and when she moves them she can fly. A couple of times she stopped on my nose and she tickled me with her wings. We went all over the yard smelling the flowers and enjoying the morning. We even laughed when we saw Ellie chasing a squirrel up a tree. The squirrel was laughing when Ellie tried to jump up to the branch he was on. Ellie looked so funny and when she’d jump her ears would flop up and down. It looked just like she had wings. Then it hit me. I had this great idea. My new friend the butterfly could teach Ellie to fly. That would show that nasty old squirrel who was in charge. The butterfly wasn’t sure it would work at first but the more I talked about it and when she saw the size of Ellie’s ears she said it just might work and would give it a try. The hard part was trying to convince Ellie to try it. We had her try to flap her ears but she couldn’t get them to move unless she was running or jumping. I tried to talk her into jumping off the side of the porch and see if her ears would make her glide but she wouldn’t have any part of it. I’m putting her on an exercise program to strengthen the muscles in her ears and maybe then she’ll be able to flap them on her own when she’s standing still on the ground. I think we’ll start with some ear-up’s, I’ll have her put her ears over the bench out back and see if she pull herself up by her ears. Maybe in a few days we could have her flying. Watch out Underdog, here comes Super Ellie.
Here's a picture of my friend the butterfly.

Stretch is at it again with another of her crazy ideas. One of these days I’m going to learn, when I see that bulb light up above Stretch's head I need to run away fast. She thinks her friend the butterfly can teach me to fly. She said my ears are long enough and look like wings so I should be able to and once I learn how I can catch that nasty squirrel when he runs up the tree. I have a better idea. I’ll have Stretch lay real still and the squirrel will see her as the nut she really is. He’ll run down to eat her and I’ll jump on him. That has a better chance of working than me flying.

I loved it. Louis is a real cutie
Thanks. At first I couldn'g figure out who Louis was then I saw the photo on the side. He looks just like our puppy Buddy.
We got Buddy at 6 weeks and he died at 2 1/2 of kidney failure after that dog food recall in 2007. He made me fall in love with mini dachshunds.
Oooo that is a fun butterfly! I wish I could chase him!
